My 2 favourite things (apart from family, holidays and coffee!) are the ocean and mixed media art. So I combined the two. My passion is creating textured multimedia resined ocean pictures. I use sand from various wa beaches and some local sea water. I use a wee bit of sand for the base and paint the background with sea water and acrylic paint or inks. Then add resin waves. Framed in a 3D frame with a few tiny shells inside the frame. These are truly unique and a genuine piece of WA art. I also make textured " beaches" from various pastes, mixes and papers with resin waves.
I am usually in my studio for hours creating one background for an ocean scene and love every minute. I use various sands, inks, paints, papers of all kinds, various pastes and glazes and usually some sort of texture. Lots of home made mediums, which is part of the fun. The 5 day drying time is frustrating but necessary. Then the fun part - the ocean is created with resin.
I use up left over resin by making coasters and keyrings.
To keep me sane during resin curing times, i also make alcohol ink layered pictures, baubles and mugs.
Always happy when I'm in my studio...unless the Resin doesn't behave of course.......
